Amber Glass Father By: V.C. McCabe

Scent of scotch on
paternal breath.

Beneath my chest,
a gasp of guilt
locked in ribcage.

Psychosomatic sinew,
twisted nerve ’round
rotten apple core.

The thorn in my side:
your legacy.

Fatalist wrapped in
straitjacket sentiment.
